Why is DHEA even in regenerizerDear Friend,This email from an unhappy camper raises some good questions. "Hey Doc, you put down a lot of other people in your newsletters that I read. I give you that your supplements are unique, but I have a question for you. If you are so smart, why even bother with DHEA in Regenerizer? It's so controversial and isn't Congress going to ban it soon anyway? What does it really add? Frank Natale Medford, OR Who MOI?! Put someone down? Never! I merely point out that there is a lot of nonsense out there that gets passed around the Alternative Medicine table like a collection basket at church. Your Turn, No Your Turn! It is my opinion that the actual people who lend their names to some of the newsletters actually do know the difference between what they are saying and what is actual fact. Sometimes at least! As to the possible ban of DHEA, Yes that is always a very real possibility. Lately I would think that it is almost a certainty. The stupid meter often gets the highest marks in an election year. It would of course make no sense since DHEA has proven over and over again to be a very useful and health giving compound. I can tell you there are some very high level politicians taking my products at this very moment! Can you say "McCain". Now I respect any man who fought for his country and suffered the way the senator did during the Vietnam War. I am sorry to have to be oppositional so close to July 4th but then again it is all about Independence. Part of what he was fighting for at least in priciple was all of our rights to freedom of speech and that means freedom to disagree.
I 100% totally disagree with anyone who lumps DHEA into the full blown "anabolic steroid" category. If anything in the dosages we use it DHEA behaves more like Thyroid hormone. It's also a sex steroid much more than an anabolic one. Regenerizer may have a small anabolic effect directly but most of its effect comes from its ability to improve your muscle efficiency and power house function (mitochondria). As a reminder in case you have forgotten DHEA is an adrenal steroid (comes from a small gland on top of the kidneys). While In both men and women it can be converted into Testosterone supporting improved libido, a sense of well being and muscle mass, the direct muscle mass effects are relatively small compared to its other effect on energy generation and brain function. They are not on the same level as Growth hormone or testosterone, at least not in men. In women DHEA may be the primary sex steroid after menopause and ultimately most responsible for a woman's sex drive. It is also a "neuro hormone" meaning that both men and women have receptors for it in the brain. There it acts like other neurotransmitters to boost memory, improve mood and well being and actually helps new nerve tissue grow! Again women have a more numerous receptors in the brain so it plays a pivotal role in the health of the female brain too. For all these reasons I include it in Regenerizer. In the body, it helps insulin lower blood sugar levels and contributes directly to increasing metabolism by improving the transport of energy substrates into the cell and the mitochondria (the little furnaces in the cell). As you may recall there are many critical organ systems in the body that run on lots of oxygen and have lots of mitochondria.
