Here are a couple of recent examples: "Most vitamins we take nowadays take forever to break down in our system. How long do your vitamins take to break down in our system and are they as hard as store bought vitamins." Via email "Doc, I was looking at the ingredients in your vitamins and comparing them to another multi vite I am currently taking. You've got some odd ball stuff in there. The specifics of our dosages and ingredients are the result of research and discussions with 2 other anti-aging doctors who prefer to remain anonymous. Vitamin A can cause bone loss. In older folks this is already a problem so naturally Vitamin A was out. Also Vitamin A is fat soluble and this means you can accumulate too much of it. Beta Carotene is water soluble and does not accumulate. Next we use two different forms of B6, the natural form and the breakdown product (metabolite) P-5-P. This is especially helpful to people who may have nerve damage called neuropathy, a common problem in aging. As you probably know Vitamin E has come under attack a lot lately. Our current formulation uses lower doses than ever and in the form of mixed natural tocopherols to avoid the problems seen with one or 2 types of vitamin E. We buffer our vitamin C with Calcium to lower its acidity and improve the absorption. We do something similar with magnesium so it gets absorbed better. So it doesn't just lie in your gut! For the selenium we use selenomethionine, the exact form your body wants and uses. I've gotten a lot of questions about chromium piccolinate. We don't use it; we use polynicotinate because piccolinate has been associated with cancer. Not exactly an anti-aging condition. Because it is easy to become overwhelmed by all these chemical names, I am going to stop here.
