3 simple steps to help you stay focusedDear Friend,I have written a lot about focus these days, because it is so important. Today I am going to share a few tips with you that help me to get things done. If you are like me you are always being pulled in different directions. There are times during the day where I am talking to someone writing something and have someone on the phone, all at the same time. Multi tasking goes with the turf. Unavoidable, but here's how I make it easier. 1) Have a plan. I usually spend a few minutes at bedtime and when I wake up creating and reviewing a plan for what needs to get done that day. Some times it goes all to h@ll but at least then I've got a plan for the next day. We don't drive places without maps unless we know exactly where we are going first. The plan is your map for the day. Use it, and watch how much stuff you get done.
2) Control your email habit. Don't make reading emails the first thing you do in a day (unless they are from me of course). Unless you live in Nirvana, some of the emails you get are nasty, wasteful and/or do not add anything to your day in terms of mental, spiritual or physical growth or humor. They can wait. At the very least scan the "whoaretheyfrom" box and decide based on that. I prefer to wake up stretch do some deep breathing, eat and get some productive work done before I even look at emails. Another thing is; here we get well over a hundred emails a day. I can live with some of them being unread and so can you. Emails is a tool, don't let it control you. At least decide what mood you want to be in that day before you look at your email. Read that last sentence again because it speaks volumes. 3) Delegate In most situations that people are in they do not need or have to do every single thing themselves. Delegation requires you to have a little faith in other people and reward them for a job well done. Both things that you and I are accustomed to, so we should not begrudge them to others. That's it. So simple. Some would say too simple but really if you are not doing those three simple little things you have plenty of room to cut some waste out of your life and get more things done. You also have a way to keep on track through your day. Have a great one, and stay focused.
