Criticism, self esteem and how other people see us - Part 3Dear Friend,"Criticism and self esteem" Ok back to the way people view you. Like I said, you probably have a pretty good idea already. The guy who starts his blog "HI My name is X and I am an ahole" is probably right on the money! When people say I am hard to get along with or I am very outgoing, generally speaking they are right. Now you may not know what a specific individual really thinks of you, but you know in your heart of hearts when the sum totally of everybody thinks of you. Remember those few people who are allowed to criticize you and actually make an impression? Well they are the ones you should go to if you want to really know how the world at large perceives you. One final point and this is a Dr Dave opinion so it must be 100% true! The Inner Man or Woman makes the biggest impression. I have known people who at first glance were stunningly beautiful until they opened their mouths. I have known homely people who absolutely captivated me after a while because the person "inside them" was marvelous. So here are some tips on how to improve your self esteem.
Focus on the good things you have done and the good comments you have gotten for them even if it has been years since you have done them. If you can recreate that feeling, you may be able to do something similar again right now. Break down your goals into chunks you can handle. Each time you achieve one part pat yourself on the back and use that energy to carry you into the next phase. Trust your instincts on how you should feel. If something makes you feel lousy you are not in harmony with that behavior. Change it and make it right. If you've done something wrong or done someone wrong, make it right. You will be a bigger person for it. Tithe, contribute or volunteer. Helping other does wonders for your self esteem. If you are needed in the world you will feel it, know it, and benefit from it.
