Bruce's story; easy come easy goDear Friend,On Friday we looked at the most unfortunate metabolic mitochondrial type the sweet seeker. Today we are going to take a look at the exact opposite and the most fortunate of the metabolic types, the "easy come easy go type" While I suspect these folks are the least common among mere mortals, I know a few of them and they are the people we love to hate. That steak and potato will either be eaten en route to his home or immediately when he gets there even though he has just finished eating. Now here is the catch.
Bruce is a veritable fountain of energy. He goes and goes until he can't go any more, then curls up somewhere sleeps for a few hours and does it all again. He has tremendous "fidget energy" meaning some part of his body is always in motion. Between the long hours in his day and the fidget energy I think he probably burns at least half again what someone like me would use up in energy. There are drawbacks to this type however. When he does gain weight it is distributed evenly throughout his body including inside. This means he is probably more susceptible to being "fat on the inside" or visceral fat. Exercise wise this type should do a lot of heavy lifting either weighted body weight exercises like Hindu Squats and pushups, dips and pull-ups with a weight vest, or heavy barbell and dumbbell exercises if your joints can take it. This should be 80% of your workout. The other 20% should be mild cardio like stationary biking or brisk walking. If you want to build muscle, you need to avoid running like the plague although you will be great at it!
