Cancer is a scary disease especially if it runs in your family.

No matter what genetic hand your parents dealt you there is much you can do to fight off this disease and lower your risk.
Here are some simple tips.
1) Don't be a shut-in. Vitamin D has been shown to lower the risk of breast, prostate and colon cancers.
While it is a fat soluble Vitamin and thus toxic, I have never seen a case of too much Vitamin D.
I have seen rickets (caused by not enough Vitamin D), however, especially in elderly shut-ins.
You need some sunshine to get Vitamin D. If you are likely to be indoors a lot in the winter make sure you take your fish oil as it has a nice slug of Vitamin D waiting for you.
2) Fish or fish oil
You know my preference is the supplement, not the fish, because of toxins. Fish Oil has been shown to combat the following cancers on multiple levels including genetic:
Skin cancer
Colon cancer
Breast cancer
Lung cancer, Leukemia and lymphoma
Stomach and upper GI cancers
Prostate cancer
Pancreatic cancer (when combined with curcumin,as in Super Omega 3)
3) Drink or take green tea supplements. 4 cups of green tea everyday has a lot of antioxidants. Green tea has been shown to lower the risk of colon, breast, and prostate cancer.

4) Broccoli
The chemical sulphofane seems to be one of Mother Nature’s great cancer fighters. Broccoli also has a good deal of fiber, which can slow down the release of sugars you might get from starchy meals.
5) Weight reduction. Being heavy increases the risk of cancer of many kinds, probably because it is pro-inflammatory and highly oxidative to your body and its genetic material.
6) Fruits and vegetables, especially berries. The antioxidants in berries are even more powerful in some cases than the chemicals found in broccoli.

7) Load up on lycopene
Good sources include watermelon, tomatoes and some citrus fruit.
