Today's email will address the issue of how to get off of meal replacements and back on to real food without paying too high a price.
You see, you really can lose weight with meal replacements if you are disciplined; the problem is the notorious issue of regaining that weigh very quickly when you go back onto real food.
In my opinion, the best way to avoid this problem is to never stop eating regular food completely in the first place.
Instead of getting your 3 squares a day as a meal replacement bar or a shake, try using the meal replacements for breakfast and or lunch and then eating a real food dinner.
In this way you can practice making good food choices and not succumb to the convenience of meal replacement.
The other way to approach this is to have shake days.
By this I mean use your meal replacements on certain days only and eat real food on the other days.
Or you can also eat out once in a while as a treat but try to add more veggies by doubling your veggie portion and avoiding the carb parts of the meal by never even having to look at them in the first place.
Finally, a few more tips at successfully controlling your weight and fat.
Don't weigh yourself every day. Try every 3 to 5 days. Variations in fluid intake, hormonal balance and even time of day can really play havoc with your mind if you are weighing yourself.
For this reason it is important to weigh yourself consistently at the same time of the day when you do.
Hint: If you have a scale that measures body fat, weigh yourself later in the evening. Most people are mildly dehydrated when they wake up and this will give you some disappointing numbers if you last measured your body fat at night.
For absolute weight, however, you are likely to be lighter in the morning.
Next remember your body may change but your weight may not. If you can tell that you look better (check out how your face looks first in terms of body weight), and your clothes fit better but the scale is not moving very much, you are still on the right track.
By the same token, don't get scale phobia. You have to measure your progress from time to time in order to see what is really going on. Remember, most people do not lose weight in a straight line linear fashion unless it is water weight alone.
It is normal to have a few temporary plateaus.
