All day every day they are blaring in my ear. These are the doctors, scientists and internet versions of such that run around with hypoglycemia if they don't eat 8 meals a day.
They tell you to be underfed but not undernourished - whatever that means. They tell you that you will live longer if you are skinny.
As a result there are whole little cult of skinny little people running around with low metabolisms, hypoglycemia and little or no significant muscle mass.
To me they are just as bad off as the fat people.
Why would you want to live with low energy and weakness even if you did live 100 years?
A recent study was done to look at this very question.
What it found was predictable.
If you are fat, getting thinner (even a little thinner) will lengthen your life and make you healthier. But there is a point of diminishing returns where getting too thin does not do anything good for you and may make you sick, weak, unhappy, unable to have good sex, and you'll die younger.
Think of that every time you see one of those skinny doctors on the internet or on TV.
So I have a research suggestion for all those research types out there. Let's stop using insurance actuarial tables that are, in my opinion, slanted in favor of the insurance companies to determine ideal body weight.
Think about this. We let the insurance companies tell us what is healthy for us.
Someone needs to study people who have higher BMI's and more muscle. These people may appear fat on paper but are anything but in real life.
I would bet they live longer, live happier, have fewer disabilities and are better in the sack.
