The Q and A sessions seem to ignite a lot of passion from you guys and gals out there so we are going to do another one of those today.
So let's dive right in!
Question: “Doc, I am 25 years old and I am considering becoming a body builder. I know you have some health issues with this so I wanted to ask you, is there any way to build the kind of physiques I see in the magazine without taking drugs?” - Jerry T.
Answer: No, there is not.
Drug use is so rampant in the professional and amateur body building world that it is an inescapable fact.
At age 25 you have the bulk of your life and health ahead of you. If you choose bodybuilding as a career or even amateur bodybuilding you will very rapidly come face to face with the issue of drug abuse. And it’s not just steroid and growth hormone either, it is insulin-type drugs and stimulants and diuretics (water pills) as well.
Have you ever noticed how eventually if you read those magazines everyone starts to look all the same? That is the result of drugs, my friend.
And it's not just the pros. We had the sad case of one of our "Mr. Natural" bodybuilders dying of breast cancer at age 39.
Now while male breast cancer is on the rise, it is not on the rise in young men UNLESS they mess up their hormone balance with drugs in high doses as this man did.
He died a miserable death and left a wife and 2 kids behind.
Talking to pro bodybuilders about this kind of stuff is like talking to a wall. They don't care and don't hear you and have already decided that it's worth it.
Before you pursue that career you need to decide if you are the same way about your health, your future and your loved ones.
Also keep in mind that the drugs they take shrivel their testis and even though they look like they are virile, many are completely impotent and have no ability to perform anywhere but posing on a stage.
They are complete non-entities in the bedroom.

Answer: There is so much you can do for your muscular endurance, Kyle, but there are some general principles.
If you are talking about weights then keep your reps on the high side and keep your rest low. You are making up for the lack of big weights with constant "time under tension".
By that I mean you need to pay strict attention to your form, no cheating and maybe just never finish the rep completely.
Example: Next time you try bicep curls stop the movement about one inch before the top and bottom and make it continuous for 15 reps with 30 seconds rest in between.
If you've only ever done strength training with heavy weights you'll find this a humbling experience.
As far as your cardio goes mix in some hard hills or intervals and then back off but stay in the "almost breathless" or lactic zone.
This will vault your overall fitness to new levels.
You may want to double the Instant Endurance and crank up your fish oil doses as well as you'll be putting an additional load on your body.
