For once I agree with a traditional medical report.
The most recent one that caught my eye was from the self appointed chairman of a consumer advocacy organization that stated that Omega 3 based super foods are a total waste.
I agree and here is why.
The omega 3 forms used to supplement the food groups involved (eggs, yogurt, breads, candies and yes even soda!) are plant based and used in quantities too small to make a difference.
You’ve hared this before: the human body needs 22 carbon omega 3’s, not the 18 carbon form from plants. Plant forms are converted by the body but at a very inefficient rate and most wind up as: “fish oil” (EPA and DHA) in the body anyway so why waste your body’s resources in the inefficient conversion.
The use of plant based Omega 3’s is nothing less than deception buy the Big Food industry to jump on the fish oil band wagon.
Expect more of it. And the next time you see something that is better than fish oil, Google it. If you find anything other than a few articles, most of them sponsored by the company that is selling the product, then send them my way as I have yet to see anything that doesn’t fit into the “hype” category.
