We are going to take a look at a very interesting theory that has recently emerged and to some degree transcends your metabolic type.
After all, that is kind of the point, isn't it?
Our body works on the principle of homeostasis.
Roughly translated from what I guess must be Latin, this means "the body stays the same".
Now if you've been looking in the mirror lately and saying that very phrase, "the body stays the same" doggonit!
What do I have to do to make it change?
Well we've gone over some very specific recommendations in prior emails depending on your metabolic mitochondrial type but here is a great way to get started.
Take a look at your last attempt at weight loss.
Dare I say it, your last "diet?"
If it worked, you wouldn't be reading this; so here is the plan.
Do something very different from what you did then.
If you went on fruit and nuts, try lean beef and celery.
If you went on all protein like Atkins, try a Mediterranean type of diet with veggies, nuts and oily fish (watch that mercury).
If you lived on protein bars and shakes, go for fruit and whole grain.
What ever you do, deviate radically from your usual eating habits in terms of what, when and how much (please try not to eat more!)
This is a lousy diet plan for a long term diet but a great way to "induce" your metabolism to get started on burning calories.
You shock your system out of its same old same old doldrums, which gives you the same old same old results and the same old same old body!

Every once in a while I get an email from someone that says something like…

My honest opinion is that you are being deceived.
You can lose SOME weight by eating the right foods, and you might even keep it off.
But if you've really got a weight problem and are not just dealing with "Vanity" pounds, you must add some kind of exercise into your routines or you will always be heavier than you want and always be disappointed.
As far as who is to blame for the weight problem, I don't care.
Let me explain.
A few weeks ago I was counseling a friend on some life issues. He had a bad childhood and felt like it was holding him back. Now past 50 he wondered when this long time problem would leave him.
My answer was, "When you start taking action and stop trying to figure it out!"
