Now that’s depressing
Sunday, May 03, 2009

If you ever need to start your day bummed out, just turn on any “media outlet”, TV, radio, internet, etc., and that will pretty much do the trick. As bodies are dug up, dredged up, charred, fried, mutilated and paraded all over the TV, etc., from all over the globe etc., it remains not so subtle counterpoint to the other bad news, the economy which apparently must be getting better by my yardstick because it’s not in the news as much.

Or are we just bored by it?

Well then you can worry about the flu that is coming out of Mexico
(have you had your Immune Booster today.

Don’t worry, we’ll find something to ruin your good mood if we can.

As a result I advise most people to stop watching and accept the fact that everyone around them will clue them in any way.

Ironically not being in the know has done nothing bad to me or for me that wasn’t going to happen anyway!

Of course with all the fish oil I take it would be pretty hard for me to be depressed but it is not so for many any people out there who are not using fish oil or at least eating some fish.

There is a direct population-based link between depression and fish oil level in the blood.

Those countries in the Far East where fish is a subsistence food show the least depression and not inconsequentially the highest fish oil intake.

How does it work?

Well your brain contains a lot of fat-derived tissue that works as
insulation and transmitting and receiving stations in the brain.

As a matter of fact it is estimated that the brain of modern man is
about 50% fish oil in terms of the fat found there.

Interestingly the growth of the frontal cortex, the thinking part of
our brains is correlated anthropologically with our increased intake of fish some 50,000 years ago.

In other words we started to eat fish and our brains grew and we rose out of the ecological depths to become the primary inhabitants of this planet.

Remember that next time they tell you not to consume so much fish or
fish oil.

By the way it’s true they didn’t have fish oil capsules way back then but they also didn’t have pollution, mercury, PBC’s PVC’s and other ocean borne contaminants to pollute their fish sources. In addition it has pretty well been established that the oil from oily fish is the golden secret to brain health, not the fins or the teeth or the eyes or the scales as some who say “it’s fish not fish oil” that works the miracles.

Those people have finally shut up!

Next is the connection between the anti-depressant neurotransmitter
serotonin which fish oil seems to boost.

The bulk of today’s treatment of depression revolves around the use of drugs that involve the blockade of serotonin so it stays in good levels in the brain.

Fish oil does it naturally.

So let’s look at some comparisons.

It’s estimated that we have a 20 to 1 inequity in our good omega 3 fats to our bad (inflammatory) omega 6 fats.

In the Japanese it’s about 1.3 to 1.

They have 10% of the cases of depression we do here in America. And in many cases they are not living nearly as well as we do!

Conclusion: money does not make you happy, fish oil does. Ok I had to throw that one in there but there is another statistic.

50% of elderly Americans suffer from depressive symptoms.

The other day when I had to spend a half hour in a lab waiting for some blood tests (yes, I do test the effects of my supplements, etc.
frequently) I would tell you it’s 100% as person after person over 70 came in and did nothing but bitch and moan about life, the economy, the country.

It was not until they left that I realized this was their
socialization. I wanted to tell them to play bingo instead!

Now compared to the reported 50% of elderly depressed Americans we have 2% elderly Japanese. And yes, again they are not living in the comfort we do and as a whole they live quite a bit longer.

Now here is the kicker. In fishing villages there seemed to be even
less depression, some approaching and achieving zero percent!!!

Now traditionalists will tell you this is all circumstantial but it
does directly correlate with Omega 3 fatty acid levels in the blood and thus the brain.

So get your fish oil right here and don’t worry. Be happy.

Oh yes and I forgot to add, live long and prosper!

SuperOmega 3 and fish oil
