In most cases the actual amount of contamination was significantly higher than it had been 8 years ago. Cod liver oil was the absolute worst! Other findings substantiate what I have been telling you good people all along: loads of other pollutants were found including pesticides, poly biphenyls, and now Flame Retardants! As a matter of fact over the last 8 years the level of flame retardants has doubled. AS I have mentioned to you before, the study found that farm raised salmon were even higher in all pollutant classes. Additionally please note that this substantiates my earlier statements that the all of world's waterways are polluted. Any Fish Oil manufacturer claiming to use fish that do not contain pollutants because they are from somewhere in the world where pollution does not exists (like above the artic circle!) is either lying or unaware. Fish Oils must be painstakingly purified by molecular distillation and reverse dialysis to ensure that there is not ANY possibility of contamination and that the right ingredients remain in the oil. This process costs money and takes time, but since fish Oil is a Lifetime supplement, it is well worth it. Some of you occasionally bring up the Consumer Reports article that stated that basically all Fish Oil is created equal, so buy the cheapest brand! This comparison only used commercial "Food" grade supplements not Pharmaceutical Grade. Also I can guarantee that the writers and researchers of this article did not test or even suspect the Flame Retardant issue. Additionally, I hate to sound like a broken record, but, Plant derived fatty acids are 18 carbon. The body wants 22 carbon molecules. While the human body can convert them this step is Inefficient and frankly plants are not a good way to get fatty acids.
