Fishing for Fat

Dear Friend,

I wanted to get this out to you before someone like Dr Roebuck (not his real name) steals my ideas and writes another book.

Over 2 years ago I advanced the theory that most disease of aging was inflammatory in nature. Lo and behold now someone wrote a book on Inflammation, disease and Fish Oil!

So here is the next revolutionary idea that they can copy and write a book about:

Obesity is an inflammatory condition. Those of you who have been with me know that this is not the first time I have said this, but I want to expand on it here.

I think that there is a vicious cycle of events that happens as we get older and heavier.

Increased weight leads to increased inflammation leads to increased weight, leads to diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure cancer Alzheimer's and of course more inflammation.

This is not to say that all people with these conditions are obese, but if you look at body weight (especialy body fat) you will see a correlation with all of these illnesses.

Smoking, sedentary life style and bad diet all combine to worsen this so you don't always have to be fat, but again if you are its double jeopardy!

I got a lot of email about the recent finding that Fish Oil may reduce abdominal fat.

In this case fish oil directly changed the genetic expression of number and size of fat cells, as well as the hormones they produce and respond to (like insulin).

But there are many other ways in which Fish Oil can benefit a person who is fat or someone who is trying to avoid it.

Back in May I went over the effects of Fish Oil on appetite and gut transit time. Won't replay it here but be aware that high dose (6 capsules or more especially when combined with Regenerizer) may decrease your appetite and stimulate the fat burning metabolism.

If you measure the markers of inflammation in the body, they tend to be elevated directly in proportion to the weight of a person (again we are talking about non body builders!).

One marker in particular is called IL-6. This one is particularly nasty. It is up in heavy people, people with diabetes, people with cancer, people with heart disease and other blood vessel blocking diseases.

Lower this and you lower the risk of all of the above. But wait don't take that as fact until the FDA approves it or Dr Roebuck writes a book about it! Everything I am telling you here is just my own speculation and opinion, not medical advice!

OK, now that we got the obligatory disclaimer out of the way, we'll continue.

There are other circulating hormones with names like Adiponectin and Leptin. These names are unimportant except to say that their levels are important in obesity, and they can be directly modified by Fish Oil. While it still takes diet and exercise to be healthy that is not always enough for some people. Some folks seen to be "locked in" to being heavy and have to do a lot more to get any weight off. If you are one of these people you may have a fatty imbalance and Fish Oil may help you a lot!

Also if you are exercising heavily, don't for get about the combination of Regenerizer and fish oil to maintain a healthy metabolism.

The above complicated interplay between hormones is not something I want you to focus on except for 2 things.
