Appetite Supression Revisited

My friends, those of you who have purchased my Pharmaceutical Grade Fish Oil and Regenerizer may not realize that you have amazing weight loss and fat burning tools in your hands.

I am going to detail exactly how to use these products for fantastic weight and fat loss but first as always, some background and science to prove exactly how this works.

My patient Pat above reminded me of this the last time we talked. She read the "Fish Oil Fast" issue of my health and longevity tips and reminded me that the very same appetite suppression and tolerance to fasting can be harnessed by people who want to lose weight and burn fat while preserving muscle mass.

Soon after I got an email from another person who wanted some tips on how to lose a lot of weight- 90lbs!

That's when I realized I couldn't keep this information to myself any longer.

Jog your memories a bit to about 10 days ago. If you've been taking your fish oil, you should have no trouble remembering what I am about to discuss.

In a recent edition of my daily email to you folks, I discussed something called the "Brain-Gut Hormone". Its other name is Cholecystikinin, or CCK for short.

In that edition I reviewed how CCK can suppress the appetite and decrease the transit time of food as it passes through the gut thus reducing calorie absorption.

During that week I also spent a lot of time harpooning the hype around CLA's (conjugated linoleic acids) pointing out that they are inferior to Fish Oil as a supplement in every way.

Here's what I wrote:

7) OK so how does Fish Oil help body builders? Well look at the list that the CLA's can contribute to. Oxidation and inflammation are not very helpful in building strong bodies! Fish Oil is a potent anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and true releaser of the vasodilator (makes blood flow go up) Nitric Oxide

8) Fish Oil has powerful effects on HGH and testosterone which are the cornerstones of effective body building.

9) Fish Oil improves oxygen delivery to the cells maximizing their efficiency in workouts.

10) Fish oil's ability to reduce inflammation means you recover faster. Remember muscles grow during recovery.

11) Fish Oil can improve joint health thereby acting like an injury buffer.

12) If you are serious about making the most of your athletic potential you need to be on this compound.

In fact as recently as March 2004 Physicalmag recommended 5 to 10 salmon oil capsules a day for optimum muscle development. (pg 42).

Now you may be wondering, "What does body building which is a very specialized endeavor have to do with weight loss, which it seems the whole nation is involved in and for good reason!"

The answer dear reader is a whole heck of a lot.

Body builders are always looking for the best way to reduce body fat and lose weight to create the definition they need to compete in Body Building contests.

For the rest of us losing fat and weight is a health and behavioral problem. Many of us eat because we are bored, depressed or upset. But for most of us the sensation that presents itself first is PLAIN OLD FASHIONED HUNGER!

Ever been on a diet and you are Ok for a few hours after eating breakfast? Then you look at the clock and suddenly you realize its only 10 A.M. and you are starting to get HUNGRY! You know in your heart of hearts you are never going to make it ‘til noon.

Still you valiantly fight on, but by 11 A.M. you know the cause is lost!

So now you start searching for something to eat. It's your intention to eat something healthy but you are in a hurry and under pressure. You want to get rid of those ever mounting hunger pangs, and FAST!

Then you spy and open box of chocolate chip cookies, and well the rest is history… SORT OF! You tell yourself you'll only have one. Five or ten cookies later you've finally satisfied your urge.

Then realizing you've eaten your allotment of sugar and carbs for the whole week in only one sitting, guilt, remorse, frustration and anger set it.

Worse, without realizing it you've set yourself up for yet another failure in the near future.

Have you ever wondered why this happens? And have you ever wondered why under those kinds of circumstances we seem to crave the Worst of the Worst of junk food; cookies pies candy soda etc.?

Well it's not your fault! Mother Nature has conspired to make you FAT!

12,000 years ago this was an effective survival mechanism. Now it's a recipe for diabetes heart disease stroke and pre mature aging!

When we get hungry, The "Brain-Gut" Hormone, CCK is usually quite low. This signals our brain to seek out food to" fill the void" in our guts (or in some cases, in our lives!)

Fish Oil is a potent stimulator of CCK which sends a signal to your brain saying, "I've had enough!"

When we eat for "COMFORT" our brain has recognized it is low on a chemical called Serotonin. Serotonin is the chemical that is raised by PROZAC and other anti-depressants. When Serotonin is normal or high, we tend to feel good and do not have the urge to eat. This is why many people on Prozac lose weight.

We eat the worst of the junk foods because the sugar/carb rich foods release something called tryptophan faster than any other foods. Tryptophan is the amino acid that is used to make the brain neurotransmitter Serotonin.

Our brains know the fastest way to get serotonin and to feel better is to eat the junk food that releases it faster than anything else. So down go the milk and cookies! Or pies, or cakes, or candies, or sodas etc., etc.

To further illustrate this point, there is the case of Meridia tm. Meridia is a potent weight loss drug that I used to use. This drug was originally pioneered as a variation on Prozac. The drug company found it was a lousy anti-depressant, but that people taking it lost a lot of weight. Again because of its effect on brain chemistry.

Many of you know there are volumes of data on fish Oil's benefits on mood and depression. Can you guess why? If you said because it raises or preserve serotonin levels, give yourself a big pat on the back because, YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT!

So now we have Fish Oil working to correct our brains and guts by cutting hunger signals and removing the need to eat junk foods.

The next thing that happens in the above diet breaking situation is the guilt, remorse and generally bad feeling that we get. This comes about because of an insulin spike. Insulin is the hormone that is responsible for bringing all that sugar we just dumped into our bodies into each and every one of the trillions of cells that make up us!

It's also responsible for FAT STORAGE in our bodies.

So now you have a spike, then a rapid drop in your blood sugars because of insulin. And, your body is just rarin' to store fat. Not Good! And, certainly not healthy.

Do that enough and your body will reduce the sensitivity of your insulin receptors and you'll develop diabetes!

Worse yet, Junk Food is generally overflowing with bad fats like trans and Omega 6's. With Insulin sucking all these bad fats right into your cells, they will replace the good Omega 3 fats (fish oil) that your cell membranes need to work properly.

Some researchers believe that this is the basis for heart disease, diabetes, Alzheimer's and arthritis to name a few.

Some other pretty wild things happen too.

Insulin directly shuts off fat burning hormones like Testosterone, and Growth Hormone in both women and men. So, now you literally can't burn fat!

If you've ever wondered why so many men and women in their middle ages seem to get fat around the middle or the butt and thighs, it's because middle age is when these fat burning hormones begin to decline, again in both sexes.

In these situations, exercise helps but if you are deficient in these hormones no amount of dieting and exercise will give you the shape you deserve for all the work you put in!

Fish Oil supports both of these hormones by reducing their degradation and increasing their efficiency.

Finally, when you eat a big meal and you crank out a lot of insulin, your body remembers that insulin surge. Anywhere form 30 minutes to 24 hours later you body expects a big dose of junk food again and begins to secrete insulin in anticipation of that junk food.

This drops your blood sugar and your CCK and starts the whole HUNGER CYCLE all over again.

This is why you may feel much hungrier than you should, not too long after you eat a big meal. If you've ever craved dessert after you got home from a restaurant this is why!

Sleep deprivation and stimulant use can do exactly the same thing (when the stimulants wear off).

So now you know the "WHY" of why we often lose the battle of weight loss even if we have will power and determination.

Here's how to use my supplements to stop the HUNGER CYCLE dead in its tracks while promoting a faster metabolism, muscle building and massive fat burning.

First you feed your body GOOD FAT e.g. Dr Dave's Best Pharmaceutical Grade Fish Oil. Hey you may as well get all the tremendous health benefits while you are losing fat and weight at the same time.

Next you give it a metabolic enhancer. In this case Regenerizer works beautifully.

The huge dose of CO Q revs up your energy generating system and buffers it from all the free radical oxidants that are going to be released when you burn all that fat.

The Carnitene cranks up the fat burning by shoveling fats in to the powerhouses of the cell allowing them to be burned in greater numbers. Malic acid primes the pump and fuels the fire, while DHEA works to increase metabolism AND improve brain chemistry (much like serotonin)!

So by using my fish Oil and Regenerizer at the same time you cover all the bases, decreased calorie and junk intake, and increase fat burning and metabolism.

In the first 6 days on the following routine I lost 5 lbs and 4.5% body fat!

So here's my routine for maximum fat loss in minimum time. Please note that the foods are suggestions only and representative of the types of food I eat.

Also notice that for fat loss we break the usual rule of taking fish oil with food! We are trying to achieve something quite different than general health which is why the compounds must be used in this way!

Dr Dave's Instantaneous Fat Blasting Routine:

1) Upon awakening take 4 fish oil and 1 pack of Regenerizer. Wait 30 min then eat a high protein breakfast. Example: Egg beater omelet with low fat cottage cheese and salsa stirred in. 4 to 6 dried apricots. 12 ounces of spring water and 6 ounces of freshly brewed Green Tea.

2) Somewhere between 10 am and noon depending on what time you woke up take another 2 fish oil before your lunch meal and before you usually get hungry! Eat a balanced lunch. Example tuna or chicken salad with no bread or only 1 slice of whole wheat, fruit salad and 16 ounces of water (preferably spring water). Optional if you are still hungry, a small hand full of unsalted raw or roasted almonds or walnuts.

3) Somewhere between 2 and 4 pm take another 2 fish oil.

4) Repeat the 4 fish oil and 1 pack of Regenerizer 30 to 60 minutes before your evening meal. Eat a low carb

evening meal. Example chicken breast with lemon wine sauce (use splenda to sweeten the sauce). Caesar salad with light dressing. Sweet potato ( do not substitute a regular potato!) you may cover it with Benecol or the equivalent plant sterol spread but use a moderate amount, and a large bowl of fresh berries again sweetened with Splenda if you need it. 12 ounces of spring water, and 6 ounces of green tea (you may use decaffeinated if you like). If still hungry a small hand full of raw or toasted almonds (this can also be an anytime snack, as can be a few dried apricots).

Note dried fruits in general should be avoided because of their tendency to raise blood sugar and insulin levels. Apricots are an exception to that rule. Try to use the unsulfured variety.

Most Fresh vegetables are also freebies and can be used as snacks.

5) Take 2 more fish oil before you go to bed.

You can have as much water as you like the servings given are just suggestions.

Since this email was originally written and sent 2 months ago, there have been some additional findings about Fish Oil.

It has become apparent that Fish Oil also facilitates the bringing into the cell of triglycerides or blood fats and sugar. This lessens the accumultaion of sugar in the blood stream and makes fat burning more efficient. This particular action makes the low carb diet even more likely to suceed since there is less sugar, and therefore less insulin needed.
